Herman Miller National Design Center
Los Angeles, California
The momentum behind the major remodel of the Los Angeles Showroom was conceived, designed and constructed to make a 21st Century design statement to showcase Herman Miller's collection of office furniture. Completed in two phases, while the space remained occupied, also created a series of other challenges. Phase I involved completely remodeling the entrance into the design center, with the major focus being a 13-foot high, custom-built, shingled glass wall with a "state of the art" computer controlled LED back lighting system. The reception area was completely redone to make a powerful impact as you enter the showroom.
Phase II consisted of a hospitality bar complete with a kitchen, floating granite counter tops, a barrisol luminous ceiling, high-tech appliances and innovative structural diagonal beams. The primary focus of this phase was the Audio/Visual presentation room, which included 13-foot glass walls, a free-floating waved ceiling that has been acoustically treated, state-of-the-art Cibola a/v system, a custom-made projection screen with a custom mirrored logo element for an artistic finish. |
